As we begin 2026, we’re sharing an important update on how you can export and continue building your existing 8th Wall projects before our platform shutdown on February 28, 2026.
Today, we’re releasing Buildable Code Export, which lets you export a fully buildable, playable version of your project. This release also includes the first distribution of the 8th Wall Engine Binary, enabling you to continue developing and running your experiences locally after platform access ends.
Understanding Buildable Code Export

Projects that rely on these services will not function offline.
Distributed Engine Binary
Each project exported using the Buildable Code Export flow includes the Distributed 8th Wall Engine Binary. The engine is provided as closed source and is governed by a limited-use distribution license.
The engine binary allows you to continue building and running your exported projects locally. However, it cannot be modified, recompiled, or redistributed in altered form, and it does not include platform services or Niantic Spatial products.
If you’d like to access the engine binary outside of an existing 8th Wall-hosted project, you can download it here.
If you have a self-hosted project, see our guide on how to migrate.
For full details on permitted use, please review the engine license and related FAQs.
