UI Elements Update in Niantic Studio

What’s New in Studio: Easily Create and Edit UI & 2D Graphics

Introducing a powerful new toolkit for effortlessly creating in-game UI—buttons, text, menus, and more

Niantic Studio keeps getting better with every update as we roll out new features and improvements. With our latest update, we’re excited to introduce the all-new UI Toolkit, giving you more control than ever when building user interfaces and 2D objects in Studio.

Get Started Instantly with UI Presets

We’ve added support for a variety of common building blocks to save you time when creating UI. Simply use the (+) option in the Hierarchy to quickly add UI elements like text, images, buttons, and 2D frames. These presets are fully expandable and customizable, giving you a fast setup without sacrificing flexibility or control.

Adding UI preset

Iterate Faster with Intuitive Design Options & Live Editing

Studio now has built-in support for visual configuration of your 2D elements and UI. Our new UI component adds groups of relevant properties together for doing things like customizing text, setting up borders and backgrounds, or adjusting the overall content layout and placement. For even greater efficiency, you can now edit and modify text elements in real-time within the Viewport. This enhancement speeds up development and eliminates the guesswork, giving you a visual and intuitive way to rapidly fine-tune the user interface during the design process. The result is faster iterations and a more streamlined workflow.

UI Configuration

Create Compound 2D Objects & UI with Ease

Studio’s UI Toolkit lets you combine elements in the scene hierarchy to build more complex or dynamic user interfaces. Use the new Frame UI Element as your canvas, then add as many sub-elements as you need. This is perfect for creating menus, buttons, and compound 2D graphics—giving you both overall control and the ability to fine-tune each sub-element.

Parent-child UI

More UI Creation Enhancements Coming Soon

Launching Studio’s UI Toolkit is just the beginning. Our team is actively working on rolling out even more UI preset options, advanced graphics controls, and new features for quickly configuring UI element interactions. Today’s UI Toolkit is just a glimpse of what we’re building to empower developers with the tools and capabilities they need in Studio. Whether you’re building 3D web games, XR experiences, or something entirely new, we hope these features help you bring your immersive and interactive visions to life—faster than ever.
