In August, we invited creators to show us what they could make using Asset Lab, the AI-powered tool inside 8th Wall Studio. The projects highlighted the range of what’s possible with Asset Lab and showed how it can make building and prototyping faster.

Leveling Up Physics in 8th Wall Studio
Sep 10, 2025 2:30:29 PM / by 8th Wall posted in Announcements, For Developers
Physics in 8th Wall Studio just got an upgrade. With the release of Studio Runtime v2.0.0, we rebuilt our physics engine from the ground up. The result: faster, more reliable performance and new tools like kinematic bodies and high precision collision detection that make building interactive gameplay easier than ever.
Script motion that feels real with Kinematic Bodies
Sometimes you need an object to follow a precise path but still behave like part of the physics world. Think of the moving platforms in a Mario-style level: they slide back and forth on a set path, but still carry the player and interact with the environment. Kinematic bodies make that possible by letting you directly set an object’s position, rotation, or velocity while it remains inside the physics simulation.
Unlike static objects that never move or dynamic ones driven only by forces, kinematics give you predictable, authored motion that still feels real.
This feature unlocks new types of gameplay in Studio: trains that move along a track while props and enemies react around them, elevators and trap doors that push objects aside on a timeline, or enemies and vehicles that follow set paths while still colliding, blocking, and reacting to the world.
Build reliable collision at any speed with high precision collision detection
Fast-moving objects are one of the trickiest parts of game physics. Ever fired an arrow in an RPG and watched it pass straight through the enemy? That’s what happens when collisions aren’t detected between frames.
With the new high precision collision detection settings in Studio, you decide when to use simplified vs. detailed, accurate collision checks on your objects. That means collisions that matter most — bullets hitting targets, sword swings connecting, or racing cars crashing — always register, without weird tunneling effects in your scene.
Ship with confidence using all-new runtime versioning
This release also introduces runtime versioning in Studio. Starting with v2.0.0, you can pin projects to a specific runtime for predictable performance and choose when to opt into new features.
Announcing Native App Export for iOS in 8th Wall Studio
Sep 9, 2025 12:51:36 PM / by 8th Wall posted in Announcements
Today, we’re introducing Native App Export for iOS, giving you a simple way to take what you’ve built in 8th Wall and bring it to the iOS App Store.
At 8th Wall, our goal has always been to make it easier for you to reach audiences with your 3D and AR experiences. For years, that meant no app required, with instant access from a single link and no downloads or friction. Now, it means flexibility. With this update, you can export to native when you need, publish to the web when you want, and manage it all from the same editor. No specialized knowledge, no extra pipelines, just a direct path from idea to app.
🏆 Meet the Winners of the Ultimate Mini Golf Game Jam
The Ultimate Mini Golf Game Jam has officially wrapped, and wow did the community deliver! In just a few weeks, developers, creators, and students took the pre-built Putt Putt Paradise project and turned it into a collection of wildly original courses. We saw retro arcade throwbacks, windy landscapes, laser-tag arenas, zombie survival maps, and even magical puzzle quests. The variety of submissions was nothing short of a hole-in-one.
This jam shook things up. Instead of starting with a blank canvas, participants got a fully built level with prefabs, physics, and controls so they could jump straight into customizing, experimenting, and adding their own twist. With Asset Lab helping generate custom models and props, creators really raised the par, surprising us with inventive mechanics and seriously polished designs.
To celebrate that creativity, our judging panel, including guest judges David Wyatt, Chao Jin, Garret the Gamer, and our own Rigel Benton, reviewed every submission. For the first time, the community also had a seat at the table by delivering the Community Voted Prize. The results are a set of winners that showcase the very best of what our devs can do.
Behind the Build: Bounce, Expand, and Conquer in Salty Slime

Salty Slime is a unique 3D platformer with fun and addictive mechanics, created by college students Herman Ptacnik and Alessandro Blanco. Players take control of a slime that can expand to grow bigger, bounce higher, and interact with the world in surprising ways. From wall jumps to rail slides, every level challenges you to master the stretch-and-jump mechanic in creative and satisfying ways.
We spoke with Herman and Alessandro about their inspirations, development journey, and lessons learned from creating Salty Slime.

We caught up with the team at forwARd game to learn what inspired them, how they brought Cloudookie to life in 8th Wall Studio, and the lessons they’d share with other developers.
From Phone to Desktop: Building 3D Web Games That Shine Everywhere
Last week, the 8th Wall community teed off the Ultimate Mini Golf Game Jam with a live info session led by our own Rigel Benton (Lead Designer) and George Butler (Developer Support Engineer).
This month-long jam challenges developers to create one-of-a-kind mini golf holes in 8th Wall Studio using our Putt Putt Paradise sample project as a starting point. The best submissions will share in a $10,000 prize pool and may even be combined into a single “Ultimate Mini Golf” experience published by 8th Wall.
But building a winning hole isn’t just about creativity—it’s also about making sure your game runs smoothly for every player, whether they’re playing on a PC or a phone on mobile data. That’s where George Butler’s advice comes in.
