Sixty-year-old Mondelez International cookie brand Chips Ahoy! launched the Happy by Design augmented reality (AR) experience to support diversity in the creative space and strengthen ties with the younger generation.
Powered by Niantic’s 8th Wall, Happy by Design joined forces with Atlanta’s High Museum of Art and Boys & Girls Clubs of America to create a unique AR art gallery accessible from anywhere in the world.
The AR experience allowed viewers to launch an immersive and interactive virtual gallery featuring art from eight individuals across the US, including teenagers from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Viewers could engage with each art piece to learn more about the artist and read a description of the artwork.
Visitors to the High Museum of Art could also access the AR experience while inside the museum to see the artwork virtually displayed on the building’s walls, creating a seamless connection between the virtual and physical worlds.
Every time a viewer accessed the virtual experience, Chips Ahoy! donated $1 to the High Museum of Art and Boys & Girls Clubs of America. This effort is part of a three-year, $1 million pledge by Chips Ahoy! to fund art programming at Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Chips Ahoy! collaborated with Digitas, PxP, Dentsu, and VaynerMedia for this campaign.
